Message From The Director

Dear Arts Patrons and Supporters,

During these times of economic uncertainty, one might think it best to reduce spending on leisure activities, such as arts and entertainment, or cut back on donations to cultural organizations.  However, after taking a closer look at the arts’ impact on our society, there are many reasons that may encourage you to do quite the opposite.

First, the arts are of vital importance to our emotional and psychological well-being, especially when other aspects of our lives can be so volatile.  They allow us to explore meanings, understand emotions, and make sense of life.  The arts can move us to go out and experience new things; offering hope for what the future holds.  Whether you visit the latest exhibition at a local art gallery or take your child or grandchild to see their very first theatre performance, the beauty and creativity of the arts can spark a new or renewed interest in each one of us.

The arts stimulate creativity, the key ingredient to making positive changes in our lives, communities and world.  Participation in creative programs encourages individuals to explore areas of interest and develop new skills.  Arts activities promote teamwork and problem-solving within the work environment or among individuals and groups in a community.  I encourage you to get involved with the arts and find inspiration to make a difference in your world.

Lastly, as the world continues to change for better or worse, the nature of humanity is to come together.  Since the beginning of time, humans have used the arts as a means of communication, expression, and a provider of connectedness.  Participation in the arts promotes socialization and collaboration among people of different ages, cultures and religions.  Embrace the arts this season, and find new ways to connect to others in your community!

I encourage you to continue supporting the arts and keeping our creative community alive.  Start a simple tradition with your loved ones.  Attend an outdoor event or performance as a family, volunteer, or get involved in some fashion!  We offer many opportunities for you to support the arts.   You will be amazed at the amount of enjoyment you will receive, as well as the satisfaction of making a difference!

Thank you for your continued interest and support of the arts!

About The Arts Partnership

History

Our organization, originally named the Findlay Area Arts Council, was founded in 1979 by a group of visionary community leaders. During its birth, the organization’s mission was to encourage and stimulate the practice and appreciation of the arts locally and statewide. The founders included Mrs. E. A. Graham, Mrs. F. F. Flowers, W. T. Maddock, Alex Baluck, Mrs. J.S. Dimling, Mrs. T. A. Buis, E. L. Heminger, Jerry Osborn, Doug Salveson, C. R. Brown.

In 1998, the organization changed its name to The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County. The mission was modified to read: To provide, encourage and promote quality arts presentations, educational opportunities and entertainment.

Although our organization has grown and changed over the years, the core of our existence has always been to provide arts opportunities that strengthen our community. Increasing the appreciation of art is still one of the goals The Arts Partnership strives to achieve.

The Arts Partnership offers a wide range of arts, education and entertainment opportunities each year. Through our programming and events, we strive to unify the community, provide cultural enrichment, and improve the quality of life for people in Findlay and Hancock County. We continually work to meet the ever-changing needs of our community through soliciting and utilizing feedback and involving community members in the planning of our programs.
