With overcoming my own struggles of depression in this world, my work reflects themes of hope, victory, and connecting with living Life to the fullest. Every person who is born on earth, has an opportunity to "Be -come the best" gift of love to Self and to Others. We are made to receive good things and are drawn to fulfill a destiny. Art of My Beloved reflects and ponders the relationship of "Being Loved" and deliberately "Be-coming Love" through memories, present times, and a future filled with hope.

Because there was season of my life where I believed there was NO way to Learn to live purposefully, my motivational cry of sharing with others stirred passionately inside of my very "Be-ing. I enjoy sharing my journey or others' stories of overcoming through my brushstrokes, colors, hidden images and themes. In the Art world, I KNOW I am like a salmon swimming upstream. Through the good and the bad times, salmon continue to swim upward and "Be their Best." I also remember who won the race in regards to the rabbit and the turtle...It is not always won to the swift!!!! I hope my work challenges others to think outside the box of their life and perceive and believe that the "Best is yet to Come!"

Soloist/Instrumental Hammered Dulcimer

I had seen my first hammered dulcimer in 1986 at an Ohio Festival. I didn't think too much about it at the time, other than it was a very unique instrument and that I have never seen one before.

In 1991, a year after my daughter was born, I had the opportunity to finally play one and received a 45 minute lesson on it and I have been playing one ever since. I learned on a 100 year old dulcimer that was a 13/12 and had a 4-course string treble and 2 course string bass. It was made like a cabinet makers drawer, where the dulcimer was part of the box. There was a lid for this that shut down over it. After that I did purchase a 12/11 from the bluegrass store in Columbus, Ohio. After that, all of the dulcimers that I had were handmade.

When my husband, DeWayne and I met, he and his brother made me a dulcimer that I used for many years. It was our own design, with no sound holes and the sides were all open! This dulcimer had the most beautiful sound. Very deep and rich. I just loved it!
Then DeWayne, being the welder/blacksmith that he is, made me an aluminum dulcimer. This dulcimer has the most unique sound and resonation. It has almost the sound of a dobro. I still take this instrument with us once in a while, when we play for a small audience just to show off just what an "aluminum" dulcimer sounds like!

In 2003, I purchased a 3/16/18/9 hammered dulcimer from James Jones Instruments. This dulcimer plays like a dream. Tuning and tone is perfect on it. I got this dulcimer with a pickup so that we can play inside to a big audience and not have to worry about them not hearing us. In high school the only musical instrument that I played was the coronet and tuba. I did play the guitar in my high school church choir too! I do know how to read musical notation, I can play the piano (melody lines only), but can can also play by ear. Since then, I have played the tin whistle, banjo (because of DeWayne - my bluegrass partner), and guitar.

I enjoy teaching others this instrument and I feel that is real important in my life. Keeping the tradition alive!

So why Strings of Glory Music? To be able to share my talents with everyone is one of God's Greatest Gifts he could have given to me so simply, it means:

"Lift up your voice through Strings of Music to the Glory of the Lord, God almighty! Rejoice for he is with us! Now and forever, even when our strings are old and rusty, there will always be music in our life and in our hearts, and we will be filled with his Glory for the rest of our lives and after!"

The Fostoria Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus meets on Mondays at 7:30 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1200 Van Buren Street, Fostoria, Ohio. This all male chorus sings in the barbershop style and performs for various events in the Fostoria, Findlay, Tiffin, Fremont and Port Clinton areas. Visitors are always welcome at our meetings. The Chorus presents the annual Fostoria Barbershop Quartet Show in April at Fostoria High School.

Remember back to the 50’s and 60’s and those great songs you heard on the radio and played on the 45 record player at parties? Remember going to record hops and dancing to those great songs? Remember watching “Bandstand”? Well, Streetwise is “Lost in the fifties and sixties” and sings those songs of your youth. With their roots in barbershop harmony, they also perform many of those oldies too.

Streetwise was formed in early 1996. All the members of the group live in the Toledo, Ohio area. They perform at many types of events and venues including corporate and charity events, fairs, festivals, and parties. They are frequently invited to sing the national anthem at sporting and other events. They have previously performed at Music Under The Stars, First Night Toledo, Applebutter Festival, Toledo Zoo, Old West End Festival, Tours de Noel, First Light Sylvania, and many, many more events and private functions.

It was obvious right from the start that Dave Haase, besides singing tenor, was the funny guy in the group and would proceed to inject the humor into the performances. Wayne "The Crooner" Walther sings lead and plays the straight man to Dave's antics. Bob Nelson sings baritone and is the musical director of the group. Don Spurlin sings bass and serves as the group's contact person.

Streetwise sings an all-American selection of music, in awesome four-part a cappella harmony.

Whether it's a stage show or a "stroll through the crowd" performance, your audience is sure to be rockin’ with Streetwise .
