Description: The Findlay Light Opera
Company was organized in 1987 as a non-profit, tax exempt organization.
During the first years of operation, a strong foundation of support was
established through a grant from the L. Dale Dorney Fund. Productions are
now made possible through financial support provided by individuals, small
businesses, and corporations. In 1990, the Eleanor S. Mitchell Vocal
Music Scholarship was established in honor of Mrs. Howard E. Mitchell,
a charter member of the Findlay Light Opera Company and a former president
of the organization. All funds given to the Findlay Light Opera Company
to memorialize Ellie Mitchell are used to support this scholarship. Interested
vocal students may send a letter of inquiry to the Findlay Light Opera
Company. Our mission is "to provide quality musical entertainment for the
community and the surrounding area while showcasing local talent, allowing
them the opportunity to grow and develop under professional direction,
and to enhance community awareness of musical theatre and its relationship
to different musical art forms through educational outreach and scholarship."

Description: We are an active, open
community of Christians seeking to know and glorify God, nurturing all
people and sharing Christ’s love and teachings. The First Presbyterian
Concert Series was organized in 1980, upon the 150th anniversary of the
First Presbyterian Church, as a gift to the Findlay community. The series
serves as a showcase for local and regional talent, offering concerts to
the public. Supported solely by patron contributions, no admission is ever
charged. A freewill offering is received. The First Presbyterian Concert
Series offers 2-4 concerts during each program year, using the facilities
of the church at 2330 South Main St., Findlay.

Flag City USA Civic Concert Band

Description: The Findlay Civic Concert
Band was formed in 1952 by conductor Ralph Shell, and has appeared each
summer since in concerts at Findlay’s Riverside Park Band Shell. First
under the direction of Shell, and later, Cliff Hite, the Findlay Civic
Concert Band is now under the direction of Jack Taylor, Director of Bands
at The University of Findlay.The band remains a volunteer organization
with its members being "compensated" only by the offer of ice cream bars
after rehearsals and performances. Professional, semi-professional, and
amateur musicians gather each summer from throughout Ohio to participate
in the band and to perform before large and appreciative audiences from
the Findlay area.
In 1991, the Findlay Civic Band was
invited to participate in the Pacific Basin Music Festival hosted by the
Sydney Opera House in Australia. The Flag City USA Civic Concert Band was
formed by Taylor as a touring ensemble related to the Findlay Civic Band,
and began a separate schedule of rehearsals, performances, and social/fundraising
events.
In its first tour in July 1992, the
Flag City Band was awarded a bronze medal for its performance in the Community
Band Division at the Pacific Basin Music Festival. In Sidney, the band
also appeared in concert with programs at the Town Hall and an "American
Style" Fourth of July concert near the bay. Additional programs were presented
in Auckland and Hamilton, New Zealand, and a final program was offered
in Honolulu, Hawaii on the return trip.
In the summer of 1996, the Flag City
Band appeared on its second international tour. Concerts were given at
venues throughout Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
The summer of 2001 marked the third
tour of the Flag City Band, with appearances in Bath, London, Stratford,
and Edinburgh. The members in the current edition of the Flag City Band
represent the Ohio cities of Arlington, Bowling Green, Bucyrus, Columbus,
Defiance, Findlay, Fostoria, Hilliard, Kenton, Lexington, Mansfield, Maumee,
Miller City, Napoleon, Pandora, Perrysburg, Tiffin, and Wapakoneta, as
well as Woodbury, Connecticut.
The Flag City Band has produced five
recordings ranging from live concert appearances to studio recordings.
All are available for purchase in cassette tape or CD format.
Fort Findlay Doll Fanciers Club

Description: The object of our doll
club is to create, stimulate, and maintain a local interest in all matters
pertaining to doll collection: to establish and promote educational and
philanthropic endeavors through dolls, to serve as a clearinghouse for
ideas relating to doll collecting, to stimulate an interest in the establishment
and maintenance of museums with permanent doll and toy exhibits wherever
the need of these things is found. It is our goal to have a fun group and
learn more about dolls and bears. The meetings of the Fort Findlay Doll
Club are held on the third Monday of each month @ 7:30 PM unless otherwise

Description: The Fort Findlay Playhouse
is located at 300 West Sandusky Street. The Fort Findlay Playhouse is Findlay’s
own live community theatre, since 1955. The goal of the Playhouse is to
offer the community quality, affordable live theatre, using community people.
The Playhouse is open to anyone in the community interested in any aspect
of theatre. The Playhouse has membership meetings the first and fourth
Wednesday of each month. Auditions are posted in the local newspaper, listed
on the side of the building, and anyone can be placed on our mailing list
by calling 423-7168.

Description: The Fostoria Lake Plains
Barbershop Chorus was formed in 1962. It is affiliated with the international
organization "Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber
Shop Quartet Singing in America" (SPEBSQSA, Inc.) Currently there are 40
members who live in Fostoria, Tiffin, Findlay, Fremont and other nearby
communities. The chorus is directed by Fred Schmidt, retired choral director
at Oregon Clay High School. The group sings in the barbershop style for
its own enjoyment and the enjoyment of others. The group presents an annual
Barbershop Quartet show each spring at Fostoria High School. Well known
quartets appear in this show along with the Fostoria chorus. The group
also performs at county fairs, street fairs, concerts in the park, nursing
homes, service clubs and other community activities.

Men’s Chorus began in 1980 with music borrowed from Bowling Green State
University and first rehearsed in the choir room at the University of Findlay.
The Millstream Men’s Chorus is a member of the Lake Erie district of the
Associated Male Chorus of America. The chorus now enjoys an extensive library
of choral music and has an active schedule performing for various civic
functions, nursing homes, and other local events and have performed with
the Lima, Ohio Symphony Orchestra.

Description: The purpose of this organization
is to protect and preserve sites and structures in Hancock Country which,
because of their historical, archeological, or cultural values, form a
part of our historical heritage through: the purpose and restoration of
any sites and structures whose importance warrants such action, the compiling
of a catalogue of historic sites and structures within the county, and
the maintaining of a reference library, the advising of individuals, organizations,
businesses and public officials on the proper techniques of preservation,
the educating of the citizens of the county on their historical heritage,
and sponsoring or cooperating with activities publicizing the county’s
heritage. Meetings are held the 4th Monday @ 7PM at the DeWald Funk House,
345 East St., Findlay. The Preservation Guild sponsors a number of events
including: Historic Homes Tour in May, the Garden Party in July, Frontier
Arts and Crafts Show at Ghost Town in September, 1999’s Walking Tour of
Downtown Findlay, and lectures on varied topics throughout the year.

renovated 1928 Vaudeville movie palace located on Washington St. in downtown
Tiffin, OH. Its mission is to entertain and enrich people by providing
